Admium with Growl will give you brief pop-ups telling when a chat comes for you and Admium does Google talk along with most all other IM protocols. Can be used as as standard email program. Well you would want something like Growl with IMHO the best chat client for Mac, Adium.Can register as mailto handler for web pages. Is anybody using Growl + Prowl to basically create their own push notifications on their iPhone I set it up for Google Voice last night, and while it works fairly well, there are still a few hitches.Immediately open mails by clicking the notification.Gmail Growl uses IMAP IDLE for Gmail, which provides near-instantaneous alerts of new messages - meaning Prowl's push notifications via Gmail Growl should be about as close to true push as you can get with Gmail on the iPhone.
